First License plates

I thought it might be fun to see what the first License plates looked like: Here is an image with brief information on the first one in New York that I found on the web.

NEW YORK 1910 LICENSE PLATE FIRST GOV'T ISSUE rivited numbers

In 1910 New York issued it's first government issue in white rivited umbers on a flat blue base. Prior to 1910 New Yorkers were assigned a number and they provided their own plates. Many of these pre 1910 issues were of similar format to this 1910 plate but were made of wood, metal numbers on leather, porcelain, rivited like this one or just flat painted on any material. Plate undated. NEW YORK 1910 LICENSE PLATE FIRST GOV'T ISSUE rivited numbers by woody1778a.
